.
.
2.) How long have you been running? I have been running a little over six yrs.
3.) Why or how did you get started into running? In 2006 I had gotten to the point where I wasn't comfortable in my own skin. I had gotten out of shape and overweight(235 lbs.). Not being able to feel comfortable in my clothes, and being unhappy with my weight for years, I finally decided to make a change. I started walking at the track and did this for about 6 months it got to the point where it was really boring and I almost gave up, but I met some people who had been running for a while (Brian Grimsley),(Jerome Douglas) encouraged me to start running with them I was like yeah, right, but I gave it a shot and never gave up as bad as I wanted to, so I owe a lot of getting started running to those guys.
4.) What is it that makes running important to you?Running has helped me in so many ways! It helped me to loose 90lbs. And it took so much stress and worry off me. Running has changed my life for the better. I would never have thought there were so many great and inspiring people who run! I have made hundreds of new friends since I started running, and some of them I have really gotten close to!
5.) What's your favorite race(s)? My favorite races are: the Savannah Rock N Roll half Marathon, Macon Labor Day 5k, Cooper River Bridge Run10k.
6.) Your PR's and what race was those PR's at? My PR's are: Macon Labor Day Road Race 5k time 18:30, Jim Herrin 10k time 40:25, Savannah Rock N Roll half Marathon 1:26:07.
7.) What are your other hobbies? My other hobbies are mountain hiking, fishing, dirt track racing, and spending time with family and friends and watching football. I have always loved and played football in school. I grew up in the 80's watching FSU. They are still my team! I have always admired Bobby Bowden. So, when I'm not running on Saturdays I'm usually watching my Seminoles!!e
8.) Do you know how many total races you have won? I have won right at 10-12 races.
9.) What are your goal races in the future? I know you are training hard to qualify for Boston. Yes, my main goal is to qualify for the Boston Marathon!! I would also like to get down in the 17's in future 5k's, which I plan to do in 2015 and breaking 1:25 next year in Savannah!
10.) What does your typical training week consist of? my training varies, depending on what distance I'm training for. For 5k's I try to at least get 30-40 miles a week in. One day at the track doing 400's and 800's, and doing 5 to 7 mile tempo runs, and usually a 10-12 mile run over the weekend. I do just about the same for 10k's, except instead of 400's and 800's at the track I'll do 1200's and mile repeats at race pace or a little faster. For half marathons what has helped me the most is going out on a run and try to hold a pace about 20 or 30 seconds slower than my race pace, and heel work.
11.) Do you train alone or with a group?. Most of the time I train alone, but I do have a few training partners that I like to train with.
Good luck to you and see you on the roads and at the races
